Quinn Backs Bloomberg on Term Limits; Blogs Say, Hell No

billsforbloomberg.jpgOn Sunday City Council Speaker Christine Quinn announced her support of Bloomberg's proposed term limits overturn. Echoing the Mayor, Quinn endorsed "continuity of leadership" during "a global economic crisis that has led to unprecedented challenges for our City."

Among the early reactions:

"HELL NO!" says Found in Brooklyn, pointing readers to an online petition and various public forums. amNY's Urbanite finds Billionaires for Term Limits Except for Billionaires, which looks suspiciously like an offshoot of Billionaires for Bush, fully on board ("As billionaires we are just not used to limitations").

A Brooklynian message board runs strongly against ("Bloomberg and the City Council who support this coup d' etat are a bunch of skunks").

The Daily Gotham takes issue with the Daily News, which had implied that the "Lauder Clause" to the bill would allow citizens to overturn the overturn in 2010; the Gotham says that there's no provision for such a referendum. Later the Gotham added, "Quinn caves in to the billionaires."

The Albany Project says, "Impeach Christine Quinn... She should be ashamed of herself, but apparently Christine Quinn knows no shame."
