AARP Meets GLBT: SAGE Advertises in Subways

sagead.jpgServices and Advocacy for GLBT Elders, aka SAGE, which has given 30 years of support for aging members of the community (and one of the more charming floats in the Pride Parade) has an ad campaign coming to the subways this month, reports WCBS. Print, bus, and phone kiosk versions have already rolled out. This idea, says SAGE, is to "put a positive and hopeful face on LGBT aging." Lez Gets Real suggests another agenda: "Elderly gay people living in nursing homes or assisted-living centers or receiving home care, increasingly report that they have been disrespected, shunned or mistreated," and "Presently, California is the only state in the Union with a law saying the gay elderly have special needs." Maybe the ads are a spur to do something about that.
