Two Term-Limits Rebels Run for Gotbaum's Seat

deblasio.jpgBetsy Gotbaum has announced that she won't run for reelection as Public Advocate, and Bill de Blasio has joined John Liu in the race to succeed her in 2009, says the Gowanus Lounge. It's noteworthy that both candidates were very staunch opponents of the Mayor's term limits overthrow: Liu called it "A collusion of the cognoscenti, a treaty of the tycoons," and de Blasio is holding a press conference with Letitia James and others as we speak to announce a lawsuit to challenge the bill.

There's some speculation that Manhattan Beep Scott Stringer will run for Advocate, too, thus offering a choice for citizens who would prefer to vote for a supporter of Bloomberg's term limits shenanigans.
