Albany Ready to Referendum Bloomberg's Term-Limits Plan

parkerk.jpgNewly-empowered Albany Democrats are learning a new respect for term limits. State Senate Majority Leader-in-waiting Malcolm Smith has already said he'd welcome a bill requiring a referendum on Bloomberg's term-limits reversal. Now Senator Kevin Parker is saying he'll introduce such a bill next week. Hakeem Jeffries has one going in the Assembly, and Speaker Sheldon Silver seems to be letting it ride.

We expect the Mayor is looking for help there from the Dem dissidents. Former defector Hiram Monserrate got a nice deal from Bloomberg on Willets Point; we wonder what's on Diaz', Espada's, and Kruger's wish lists.

Oh, and here's a fun fact we'd missed about the term-limits lawsuit, from the New York Law Journal's report: one of the plaintiffs' attorneys is former Giuliani Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro.
