Barneys Unveils Hippie Christmas Windows

Barneys holiday theme this year is "Have a Hippie Holiday," partly because no one's thought of it yet (well, nobody haute, anyway), partly because we'll all be walking around in frayed jeans and begging for spare change soon, partly because it's the 50th Anniversary of the old chicken-track, and partly because there's an environmental component, with "gorgeous green gifts" for sale. Simon Doonan's windows for the event were unveiled yesterday, attended by Tom Brokaw, author of Boom! Voices of the Sixties, and we are dearly sorry we missed him gargling about the age of communes and cheap weed. Parked at the curb was a showpiece classic VW painted like Goldie Hawn on "Laugh-In." We're told the next Barneys Warehouse Sale will have its usual Altamont theme.
