MTA Unveils Images from Unaffordable Second Ave. Subway

Second Avenue Sagas reproduces some images from the MTA task force report on the Second Avenue subway, which will allegedly be built over the next ten years. "It’s hard not to get excited about this," says SAS, but somehow we managed. The station looks like an airport terminal, and over time (assuming it is ever built) will resemble a gutted D'Agostino's. The canopies are nice, but compare unfavorably to their Art Nouveau equivalents in Paris and even old New York subway entrances. And besides, aren't the city and the state both broke? The MTA should be looking to more economical alternatives, like horse-drawn streetcars.
