Second Marathon Casualty Named
The Staten Island Advance reports that Joseph Marotta, a former Community Board Chairman, died of a heart attack Sunday night after walking the New York City Marathon. It was the 66-year-old's fourth Marathon, a tradition he began after his son donated a kidney to him in 2004. As previously reported, two other marathoners suffered heart attacks after the Marathon: Brazilian Carlos Jose Gomes, who died, and a runner whose name and status have not yet been revealed.
