Seminerio Pays Legal Bills with Campaign Funds

seminerio.jpgQueens Assemblyman Anthony Seminerio, indicted in September for extreme patronage, has been paying his legal bills with campaign money, reports the New York Daily News. But don't get too excited -- it's perfectly legal, or so his campaign treasurer tells the News and the sputtering response of a NYPIRG spokesman ("This should be illegal") implicitly confirms. The News helpfully lists some previous local pols who've turned the same trick: Guy Velella, Brian McLaughlin, and Alan Hevesi. Well, at least he's only ripping off the people who actually paid to put him in office.
