Queens Assemblyman Anthony Seminerio,
indicted in September for extreme patronage, has been
paying his legal bills with campaign money, reports the
New York Daily News. But don't get too excited -- it's perfectly legal, or so his campaign treasurer tells the
News and the sputtering response of a NYPIRG spokesman ("This should be illegal") implicitly confirms. The
News helpfully lists some previous local pols who've turned the same trick: Guy Velella, Brian McLaughlin, and Alan Hevesi. Well, at least he's only ripping off the people who actually paid to put him in office.
