Two Still Up to Challenge Christine Quinn

yettak.jpgThe Villager reminds us that Speaker Christine Quinn's council district is downtown, and at least two residents who were thinking of going for Quinn's seat before the term limits overturn gave her the right to re-contest it are still up for the race. Maria Passannante Derr is the niece of a former Assemblyman, a community board member (scroll down to "letters warfare") , and a very infrequent blogger; Yetta Kurland is a civil rights lawyer and GO columnist who is supported by the NYC Radical Cheerleaders. Each has about $40K in funds, and Quinn is loaded, but the district's in Greenwich Village and Chelsea, nabes traditionally favorable to protest votes, and both Derr and Kurland have come out strong against Quinn's term limits manipulation... hey wait, are we really talking about 2009 City Council elections already? We're gonna go take a walk or something.
