Garza Search Intensifies
On the day before Christmas, police appear to have stepped up their efforts to find the remains of Laura Garza, the young Texas woman who left a Chelsea club with a sex offender on December 3 and has not been seen since. Police divers have cut through the ice on Echo Lake and sought her there, and tossed the apartment of the sex offender, Michael Mele, one more time. Mele, who had a few days to take care of business before cops caught up with him, is in custody for parole violations.
