MTA Reminds Us of the Days Before They Went Totally Broke

oldbus.jpgFirst the MTA put Sunday "nostalgia trains" from the 30s through the 70s on the V line for the holiday season. Now, the Post reports, they're giving us vintage buses from the 60s and 70s. They've been fitted with MetroCard readers, but presumably you can open the windows. We doubt they'll let you smoke on them, but that would be cool, wouldn't it? And midtown should enforce a "Mad Men" dress code between 9 a.m. and Happy Hour. Maybe then we'll believe we're back in that magic time of Fun City, rather than on the verge of catastrophe. That's the whole idea of this stunt, isn't it -- a little fantasy before the fare hike?
