Richardson for Commerce Sec'y; GOP, Latinos Already Bitching

richardson.jpgPresident-Elect Obama put forward his former rival for the Democratic nomination, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, for Secretary of Commerce. The sometimes ill-spoken Richardson, who during the campaign told a union audience that he would "continue taking your financial support," said it was "a pretty good job" and pledged to revive the economy in both English and Spanish.

The National Republican Committee was pre-pissed and issued a release this morning complaining that "Nothing Says Change Like Scandal Prone Washington Insider Bill Richardson," denouncing his involvement with Peregrine Systems ("Corporate Governance Experts Say He Should Have Known Better") etc. And some Latino Democrats are saying that Richardson isn't enough representation of their group in the Cabinet, which seems to be a running theme today.
