Times: Walking on New Year's Day Can Kill You

drunkwalk.jpgPlanning on walking home from your New Year's revels in the wee hours? Be especially careful. The Times tells us that, per an Injury Prevention article, New Year's Day is the "deadliest day of the year for pedestrians," with most of the January 1 walkers who were killed by cars showing "high blood alcohol concentrations." (Injury Prevention also reports that six of the 10 deadliest days of the year are on or around holidays: July 2-4, December 23, January 1, and Labor Day.) So, if you get drunk, by all means drive. Safety first!
