Yankees Get Sabathia for $140 Million

Categories: Baseball, Featured
sabathia.jpgThe Post announces that C.C. Sabathia, the 2007 Cy Young Award winner and most recently a Milwaukee Brewer, is signing with the Yankees. They say the deal is over $140 million for six years (Update -- Make that $160 million over seven years!), the largest pitching contract in major league history. The Yanks are said to be looking for even more starters, though after that payout they may have to recruit them through community service arrangements.

It's a little early for fan blog reaction, but we expect Yankee triumphalists will be more excited about this than the Mets' dour online fans were about K-Rod, though Sabathia's impact will be limited as he cannot pitch every game.
