Bad Polls Keep Paterson Home, But Don't Faze the Mayor

armisenright.jpgGovernor Paterson and Mayor Bloomberg reacted to bad poll numbers in different ways. The Governor, shown in a Siena poll to be running about even with Andrew Cuomo in the gubernatorial affections of the people, has canceled his trip to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, presumably feeling that headlines like "Paterson Off to Switzerland" and words like "boondoggle" should be kept away from his image right now.

As for Bloomberg, who traditionally enjoys insurmountable leads but is shown in a NY1 poll to lead Anthony Weiner by only seven points in a speculative Mayor's race, he just sent his spokesman out to spin it good ("he remains so popular among voters") and went about the people's business, knowing that if he gets in a jam he can always buy more votes.
