City Payroll Search Tool Offers Hours of Depressing Fun

seethroughright.jpgEver ahead of the curve, Runnin' Scared told you about the public information site SeeThroughNY.net in August. Now the site's public-employee-salary search apparatus has been updated to include New York City government drones, which is getting major play in the press, and if there's anything we like more than leading the way it's piling on.

We checked councilmember David Yassky's salary and found that, while that he makes $112,500 a year, he also gets $1.00 an hour -- no wonder he looks so frazzled! We also learned that assemblyman Dov Hikind gets separate stipends of $79,500 and $16,500 a year, and there are four other Hikinds on the payroll -- Pinchus and Libby we know are his brother and sister-in-law, but Morris and Yonatan we're not sure about. And there are so many Rangels -- 17! -- that we stopped looking. Say, this gets less fun and more dispiriting as you go along. Why would anyone want to be a journalist?
