Dorm Discrimination at NYU?

Bias in NYU Housing
The Congress of Racial Equality is currently investigating claims of discrimination against Negroes in housing owned by Columbia University and New York University. According to James Farmer, national director of CORE: "There have been persistent complaints from Negroes who claim to have been denied apartments in buildings owned by the two universities."
Farmer expects to have more detailed information within a few weeks, at which time "we will begin negotiating."
Dr. James M. Hester, president of NYU, reading of CORE's intentions in the New York Times, said: "The charge by James Farmer that 'apparent systematic discrimination' exists in housing at NYU is unfounded in fact."
