Leon Heyward, 1956-2008

On the day after New York evaded a great disaster, the medical examiner's office reminds us of one that didn't miss. Leon Heyward, who died of lymphoma aggravated by sarcoidosis on October 13 of last year, has after investigation been named the 2,752nd victim of the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center attacks. Heyward, 45 at the time of his demise, was near Ground Zero when the buildings collapsed and kicked up their toxic cloud, inhalation of which the M.E. confirmed as the cause of Heyward's death.
