The Best Picture Oscar nominees are The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader, and Slumdog Millionaire. The other top nominations are:

Best Actor: Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon), Sean Penn (Milk), Brad Pitt (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler);

Best Actress: Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Angelia Jolie (The Changeling), Melissa Leo (Frozen River), Meryl Streep (Doubt), and Kate Winslet (The Reader).

Best Supporting Actor: Josh Brolin (Milk), Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt), Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight) and Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road).

Best Supporting Actress: Amy Adams (Doubt), Penelope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Viola Davis (Doubt), Taraji P. Henson (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), and Maris Tomei (The Wrestler).

Best Director: David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ron Howard (Frost/Nixon), Gus Van Sant (Millk), Stephen Daldry (The Reader), and Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire).

Best Animated Feature: WALL-E, Kung Fu Panda and Bolt.

Best Original Screenplay: In Bruges, WALL-E, Frozen River, Milk and Happy-Go-Lucky.

Best Adapted Screenplay: Slumdog Millionaire, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, The Reader, and Doubt.

Other nominees should be posted at the Academy Award site shortly.

Update: Here they are. Benjamin Button has thirteen nominations, making it this year's Big Lush & Splashy nominee and should gain a lot of audience from it. Does anyone really like The Reader? Should we take 10 nominations and much advance publicity as an allegedly underdog to mean Slumdog Millionaire is the favorite?
