Post-Inaugural Comment of the Post-Inaugural
There are reams of commentary available in every paper, blog, and coffee shop this morning, but our favorite comes from Scott Turner of Rocky Sullivan's in Red Hook, reporting for Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn. Turner notes that the new President invited the World Famous Lawn Rangers of Amazing Arcola, an Illinois lawn-mower marching band, to join yesterday's Inaugural Parade. They proceeded, per the Chicago Tribune, "with a well-endowed mannequin wearing a T-shirt declaring 'D.C. or bust,'" and a mower "called 'Obama the self-starter,'" which "features two hands emerging from the mower and grabbing the starter rope." The Lawn Rangers had extended a similar invitation to Obama in 2003, when he was running for the state senate, to join them in their local St. Patrick's Day Parade, at which the above photo was taken. "The nation," observes Turner, "needs a bunch of this Obama in the Obama guy we elected president."
