Ray of Avenue A Turns 76, Gets Counter Dance

Ray, longtime proprietor of the little candy store on Avenue A near East 7th Street, celebrated his 76th birthday this weekend at his store, accompanied by several East Village celebrities (including John Penley, who apparently hasn't moved away after all). Neither More Nor Less provides coverage and photos, including this one of local burlesque queen Mini Malicious, who provided Ray with a birthday counter dance. Ray's, and Ray, are in some financial difficulty, so we hope some of the guests put money in their envelopes.
