Term Limits Court Case Begins, Paperwork Missing

bloombergleft.jpgOne of the court cases over the Bloomberg third term bid that was approved by the city council in October got underway yesterday in Brooklyn, where attorney and former Giuliani chief of staff Randy Mastro told a judge the city council vote that overturned two referenda was "unconstitutional and illegal" and "violates the First Amendment and due process." The city's attorney claimed the plaintiffs were just "complaining about a loss in the political arena."

Meanwhile the Daily News notices that Bloomberg hasn't filed the Federal papers required to certify the new law. Term limits are also taking a beating in Washington, where House Democrats are moving to suspend a rule that limits committee chairmanships to six years.
