Since
getting Ingenix and UnitedHealth Group to pony up for an independent rate database so health insurance customers won't get fleeced on out-of-network costs, attorney general Andrew Cuomo has been shaking down the rest of the insurance industry. This month he's gotten
more than half a million from MVP Health Care, and
large sums from Independent Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York for the database. Now comes a prize catch:
Cigna is signing on to the tune of $10 million. In related news, Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, which had
decided not to join the program, is getting a five-day notice of intent to sue from the AG's office for fraud and rate manipulation. That'll teach them to fuck with Andrew Cuomo!
