Joaquin Phoenix Refuses to Cooperate with David Letterman

Share with us here the somnolent agony of Joaquin Phoenix on the David Letterman show last night. In this compilation clip the star of Walk the Line, hiding behind a giant beard and shades, mumbles answers, reacts badly to laughter ("What d'you gas 'em up with? Is this nitrous?"), and thumb-wrestles himself while Dave cracks wise ("What can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber?"). The budding hip-hop star may be drugged, or severely, clinically depressed, but either way it's fun, isn't it? Hollywood stars brought low and all that. "Phoenix needs to work on his crazy," says What Would Tyler Durden Do, "if he wants to go on Letterman and top Brother Theodore or Crispin Glover."
