As Mets fans, we expressed confusion that that Knicks fans at the Garden, and even
Spike Lee, would
cheer Kobe Bryant of the Lakers throughout Monday's game against their own team. Former Indiana Pacers great
Reggie Miller, who was frequently abused by the same fair-weather fans, goes further: "I was texting Spike as the game was going on, saying how disappointed I was in the fans chanting 'MVP!' for Kobe," Miller said in a phone conference. "I was like, 'How the mighty have fallen'... Because I remember in times past, I never got cheered. I'm sure Jordan never got cheered. And now they are chanting 'MVP' for Kobe? And all (Lee) kept doing was texting back and going, 'Look, times have changed. The climate has changed.'" Lee means the Knicks suck. Last night the
Cavs beat them, with superstar LeBron James scoring 52 points. Though James fist-bumped Spike Lee at the game, the
New York Times reports, "the crowd seemed oddly indifferent." Pitchers and catchers report to Port St. Lucie in eight days.
