Special Election Near-Tied, Goes Into Overtime (Updated)
(The Staten Island Advance says it's actually 4,278 to 4,037 and that Mitchell has declared victory; we'll check it again later this morning. Update, 7:40 a.m.: Mitchell continues to insist on victory, Rose is talking about going to the court. Update, 12:00 p.m.: The current vote spread between Mitchell and Rose is said to be 48 votes. A BOE recanvass is scheduled for next week.)
The other two races weren't so close. Former Hiram Monserrate's former chief of staff Julissa Ferreras won her old boss' seat in Queens, and in southwest Queens Eric Ulrich took over from state senator Joe Addabbo.
