Stimulus Passes Senate

muslimbarry.jpgObama's stimulus bill, sheared to a mere $838 billion, has passed in the Senate, by a vote of 61 to 36 with one abstention, with Republicans Arlen Specter, Olympia Snowe, and Susan Collins joining all the Senate Democrats. They are the only Republicans in the entire Congress to vote for the bill, for which they will be targeted by the National Republican Trust PAC. The next step is the reconciliation of the House's chocolate with the Senate's peanut butter in a conference committee. Michelle Malkin makes up a new nickname for the stimulus ("Turbaconducken") and calls on her minions to "raise your voices" in protest; Cato Institute scholar Arnold Kling says, "Barack Obama is destroying my daughters future. It is like sitting there watching my house ransacked by a gang of thugs." Happy days are here again!

Update: Hilarious, short video here of Chuck Schumer, in the closing minutes of debate, saying "to all of the chattering class that so much focuses on those little, tiny, yes, porky amendments: the American people really don't care." That's how we post-post-partisans roll, yo!
