Suspended NYU Protesters Rally Tomorrow

singingsupportleft.jpgAs we heard during those memorable nights last week, ain't no power like the power of the people 'cause the power of the people don't stop. Take Back NYU, the org that occupied NYU's Kimmel Center, and got played by the University and basically defeated last week, tells us that tomorrow, February 24, after the 18 protesting students who received suspensions meet with NYU disciplinary officials, they'll hold a 7:00 p.m. "press conference/rally" at the north end of Washington Square Park. Take Back NYU maintains that though "our occupation was not a full success... this protest is just a beginning to what is to come" and continues to advocate more transparent use of their tuition dollars. We hope, we pray they'll lead us all in a new occupation, preferably of the Washington Square Arch, which is historically precedented. Update: BushwickBK suggests suspended students who may get thrown out of their student housing should join them in Bushwick: "Two years ago, I lived in a converted living room/kitchen in a one-bedroom dormitory on Union Square with three other students for about $1400/month each. In 2008 I packed my bags and headed to Jefferson Street, where my portion of the rent is $634/month." Photo by Robert Sietsema.
