More Housing Price Declines, Still Not Showing Up in Rents
They're telling us yet again that housing prices are way down -- with a possible assist from evangelical Christians, and it's about time those fuckers did us some good. But, once again, we're just not seeing it in the local real estate listings. Here's a realtor showing off (sideways, for some reason -- perhaps to increase your perception of its size) a $1600 studio in the "Clinton/Chelsea area" ("one block from The Port Authority Bus Terminal"). This one is more like it -- a two-room studio at 83rd and Second for just $1400. But we're still not seeing the New Depression prices we've been promised. And the Post told us we were going back to the days of Abe Beame! Well, we'll give it a few more months.
