We'd be remiss if we did not mention that last night New York played host to the finals of the
U.S. Pole Dance Championship, sponsored by the U.S. Pole Dance Federation, at the Bleecker Street Theatre. The
finalists included four local girls -- Brynlyn Loomis, who "was recently selected to pole dance at the launch of Yummie Tummie Shapewear"; "Lauren" ("When she was invited to a Bachelorette party at Xpose Fitness in Baltimore, her life transformed"); Gabrielle Valliere, who has a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Brown and master's in Child Life from Wheelock College; and Israeli-born Lian Tal, whose stuff may be seen
here. They were all bested by Jenyne Butterfly of Las Vegas (pictured), who seems to specialize in
airborne maneuvers and whose
MySpace page has yet to announce her victory, though she does inform readers that she can be seen every Saturday at the Palms with Paul Oakenfold. She receives among many
prizes a trip to Sydney, Australia, where she will perform in Miss Pole Dance Australia, and an appearance on the cover of (and a three-month subscription to)
Pole2Pole magazine.
