Sundwall Off NY-20 Ballot; Tedisco, Murphy Press On

ericsundwall.jpgLibertarian candidate in the NY-20 special election Eric Sundwall has been knocked off the ballot by the state board of elections. Most of his signatures were invalidated in petition challenges by three parties, including the chairwoman of the Dutchess County Conservative Party. The remaining candidates, Democrat Scott Murphy and Republican Jim Tedisco, debated last night, and Murphy joined Tedisco in welcoming the lawsuit by the Justice Department that may delay the election so that overseas voters have enough time to get their ballots in. This week Murphy received the endorsement of President Barack Obama, while Tedisco was endorsed by the Humane Society for his sponsorship of "Buster's Law," which added aggravated animal cruelty charges to the state's criminal code. Assuming the Feds don't delay it, the election is Tuesday.
