U.S. Attorney General "Has No Objection" to Term Limits Overturn

bloomking.jpgMore bad news for Bloomberg-stoppers: the Justice Department has issued a letter to the city's corporation counsel, saying AG Eric Holder has no objection to the city council's overturn of term limits. The review was necessitated by the Voting Rights Act. The letter, signed by Justice's voting section chief, specifies that "the failure of the Attorney General to object does not bar subsequent litigation to enjoin the forcement of the changes," so there's still some hope for Randy Mastro's and Norm Siegel's Voting Rights case against the overturn, albeit a slim one.
