Anti-Gay-Marriage Girl Loses Pageant; Rightbloggers Cry Fix!

Get ready for the new rightwing meme: that Miss North Carolina won the Miss USA pageant because of the velvet mafia. Miss California, Carrie Prejean, was asked by judge Perez Hilton (!) what she thought of gay marriage, and Prejean responded, "I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised." Though Prejean was cheered by the audience, North Carolina's Kristen Dalton later won the crown.

Prejean "was apparently the clear front-runner," says OneNewsNow, "and had the highest scores in swimsuit and evening gown, but she went with her beliefs on that answer (good for her) and possibly lost the competition because of it."

Let the sputtering rage commence! Rightbloggers rise up for Prejean's constitutional right to be Miss USA:

"Miss California isn't allowed to voice her opinion," claims B-Diddy of Pajama Pundit*, "and the opinion of a MAJORITY of the people she represents." "Sing it loud and clear that there is no free speech in the lib world," says a Lucianne.com commenter.

"How in the hell did the super gay troll celebrity blogger get the job???" asks Stark Raving Mad. "He doesn't even like girls. This kind of crap just pisses me off. It seems that in this age of political correctness and liberalism," etc. "Discrimination is Okay, if You're On the PC Side," says TRoutMac. "What is happening to freedom of speech in this country?" cries The Issues at Hand. "Now We Aren't Even Entitled To Opposing Gay-Marriage Opinions," mourns Steven's World.

The American Society of Shitcanned Media Elites tried to forge consensus ("Miss California Versus Perez Hilton: Who Do We Hate More?"). But it does not quell the outrage! Word is that angry tea party patriots will hold their own Miss Galt competition in an unnamed gulch.
