"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" playwright Edward Albee's first Broadway entry, has six new awards this week to support its reputation. Voted best play of the season by the Drama Critics Circle, "Who's Afraid" and its company received Antoinette Perry awards as follows: best drama; Uta Hagen, best actress; Arthur Hill, best actor; Richard Barr and Clinton Wilder, best producer; and Alan Schneider, best director. Tonys went also to "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," best musical; Alan Arkin, best supporting actor, drama; and Sandy Dennis, best supporting actress, drama.

William Hanley, whose one-act dramas "Mrs. Dally Has a Lover" and "Whisper Into My Good Ear" played last fall at the Cherry Lane Theatre, will graduate to Broadway early next season when the Theatre Guild presents "Conversations in the Dark," his first full-length play.

"The Last Minstrel" and "Save Me a Place at Forest Lawn," a double bill of plays by Lorees Yerby, begin previews tonight (Thursday) at the Pocket Theatre under Denis Deegan's direction. Opening is Wednesday, May 8.

Closed last week: Shelagh Delaney's "The Lion in Love," after six performances at One Sheridan Square, and "The Purple Canary," at the Midway Theatre.
