Court Rejects Appeal of Term Limits Case; Bloomberg Still In

bloomking.jpgAnother term limits extension challenge has been defeated: Yesterday the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals declined to intervene in a suit against Mayor Bloomberg's third term shenanigans. This was an appeal of a lower court ruling against the suit earlier this month. As Elizabeth Dwoskin reported earlier, the suit was brought by Normal Siegel and Randy Mastro on grounds that the city council's overturn of the term limits law, twice affirmed by referenda, violated the federal Voting Rights Act. The court didn't see it that way, and said, "It is not the role of this court to interject itself into city politics." Siegel and Mastro declined to say what they'd do next.
