FDA Reverses Ruling, Will Let 17-Year-Olds Have Plan B

junoposter.jpgYay! Last month a federal judge (in Brooklyn!) ruled that the FDA had no business restricting the unprescribed sale of Plan B to women over 18. Today the Food and Drug Administration caved and reversed its ruling, which means 17-year-olds will be able to buy Plan B, aka the morning-after pill, which largely prevents fertilized ova from taking root if administered within 72 hours of knocking-up. Hurrah! It's enough of a hassle dealing with bogus statutory rape charges without having to scrounge up a scrip, too.

Even better, the pro-life people are already getting mad. "It's nothing more than an abortion in a pill," says Keep Life Legal. "Again, parents losing the right to judge what our kids can and cannot do." "Parents should be furious at the FDA's complete disregard of parental rights and the safety of minors," adds Concerned Women for America. It's amazing -- they never catch on that this sort of talk just makes it hotter.
