Pat Buchanan on the Miserable Not-Yet-Failure of the Obama Presidency

Unless you watch Sunday morning talkshows, you may have forgotten Pat Buchanan, the lovable scamp who at the 1992 Republican Convention called for patriots to take back their culture as the cops did during the L.A. riots -- with semi-automatic weapons, and block by block. Today he's back on the internet, telling people that Obama is doomed unless he gets in touch with the common folk. "The moral and social sappers spawned by that decade have done their work well," Buchanan concedes. "But Middle America yet remains a blood-and-soil, family-and-faith, God-and-country kind of nation. We are not Europe -- yet." He cites in evidence that Clinton almost lost the 1992 Presidential election, and Merle Haggard. Buchanan sees mortal peril to Obama's presidency that he could sit with Hugo Chavez "and listen to the scrub stock of the hemisphere trash our country -- and say nothing," and counsels that next time he "react as a normal patriot," presumably with a sock in the jaw. It's amazing the effete, unpatriotic fop Obama ever got elected, and holds the affection of the people. But just wait till the next tea party -- we'll get him for sure then!
