Andrew Cuomo (
pictured) keeps rolling up skels in the pension fund pay-for-play scandal. Now he's got
Julio Ramirez Jr. to plead guilty to a securities fraud violation. Ramirez, a pal of
previous indictee Hank Morris, is a placement agent of the sort that has
proven troublesome in these matters and recently banned from
state and
city pension fund business. Cuomo accuses Ramirez of doing "corrupt" pension fund deals while working for Wetherly Capital Group in Los Angeles; via Morris, he is said to have bought influence to get New York state pension money invested in Wetherly clients. The SEC is looking at -- scratch that, has
just charged Ramirez, too. Cuomo's making pension fund investigation a
national craze.
