Somebody Got Murdered: Knifing in the Bronx

LOCATION: St. Mary's Street & Beekman Avenue, the Bronx

TIME: Tuesday 5/12/09 at approximately 12:31 p.m.

If someone gets killed in Central Park, it's big news. Not so when it happens in one of the city's lesser known parks. The murder of a 23-year-old woman in St. Mary's Park in the Bronx yesterday around lunchtime didn't even merit an article in the local tabs.  Cops from the 40th Precinct responded to the park to check into a report of  a female stabbed at St. Mary's Street and Beekman Avenue. An ambulance transported the woman, Nimzay Aponte, to Lincoln Hospital where the Bronx resident was pronounced dead. Also, a man was stabbed in the arm during the melee. He too was taken to Lincoln where he was listed in stable condition.
