Paterson Requires Stimulus Jobs to Be Added to State Job Bank

We like to be snide, but this actually seems like a good idea: Governor Paterson is requiring that every firm that gets federal stimulus money from the state to create those "shovel-ready" jobs we've been hearing about to post those jobs at the state Job Bank -- a resource to which unemployed citizens are often directed by their caseworkers, but which is not usually brimming with opportunities for laborers. Paterson expects New York to get $26.7 billion from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act over the next two years, so that ought to beef up the pickings a little.
