Schumer Accepts Non-Apology from Hayseed Legislator

Charles Schumer has issued a statement about that Arkansas state senator who called him "that Jew." Schumer's statement is, "Apology accepted." Actually it wasn't much of an apology -- what Republican lawmaker Kim Hendren (pictured left) said was, "I shouldn't have gotten into this Jewish business because it distracts from the issue" (illegal immigration, which he was discussing while sharing a jug with some locals at the Pulaski County Republican Committee Meeting and Fish Fry) and "When I referred to him as Jewish, it wasn't because I don't like Jewish people." Also, "At the meeting I was attempting to explain that unlike Senator Schumer, I believe in traditional values, like we used to see on The Andy Griffith Show," which sentiments Southerners traditionally abbreviate into anti-semitic slurs. Guess Chuck didn't want to make too much of it, and he's not likely to ever see Hendren in Washington or New York, or anywhere else they don't have spittoons and outhouses.
