A few weeks back Brooklyn state senator Kevin Parker pleaded not guilty to charges related to his
unfriendly encounter with a New York Post photographer, but the Brooklyn D.A.'s office has just upped the ante by
bringing second- and third-degree assault charges against him -- felonies that could get Parker up to seven years in prison. The cameraman claims that Parker, incensed that the shutterbug was staking out his home,
broke his camera and was not too nice to his car, either. While noticably
wittier than
today's other senatorial crime news subject, Hiram Monserrate, Parker has the longer rap sheet, having
punched a traffic cop back in 2005. Parker allegedly
yelled at a security guard a few days before he encountered the
Post photographer.
