As you may have heard, Brooklyn-based state senator Kevin Parker is in trouble for
grabbing a New York Post photographer's camera and ripping a panel out of the photog's car door. (Parker is thought to have been made uptight by the
Post's investigation of his
long-unpaid mortgage in Flatbush; Parker is an advocate of foreclosure relief.) Photographer William Lopez reported the incident and Parker was charged with
third-degree criminal mischief. Now the Democratic senate leadership has
removed Parker from his energy committee chairmanship and majority whip post, and the stipends that go with.
Parker has pleaded not guilty. A persistent
Bloomberg Administration critic, Parker in 2005
punched a traffic cop who was writing him a ticket, and was required in consequence to take an anger management class, which apparently has not been of help.
