Verrazano Bridge Toll Going Up?

verrazano.jpg
We're still waiting for the vote that is expected to pass the MTA budget compromise, which charges drivers and employers taxes and surcharges to keep the buses and trains running with just a slight increase in fares. And we hope the Dalai Lama's invocation in Albany this morning put them all in a mood to screw us as little as possible.

But we should mention that, although new bridge tolls were cut out of the deal, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge toll is expected to go up. State senator from the North Shore of Staten Island Diane Savino says the toll will increase from $10 to $11, but her colleague Michael Cusick says maybe it won't happen. Photo (cc) WTL.

Update 1:25 p.m. Uh oh: "No legislators have seen an actual [MTA] bill at this point," reports PolitickerNY. Was it all just a dream?
