We should mention that though the state senate has been in an unproductive state of upheaval for nine days, the other house of the legislature keeps churning out bills, and assembly speaker Sheldon Silver keeps churning out press releases to announce them. Today, along with the
Unincorporated Business Tax exemption that Mayor Bloomberg
was talking about yesterday, and a
driving safety bill, Silver tells us
the assembly has re-authorized mayoral control of New York City schools, which is due to expire in less than two weeks. Unfortunately this is meaningless so long as the state senate remains in lockdown and Pedro Espada still insists that he can reactivate the senate in his
secret identity as Substitute Lieutenant Governor. D.A. Johnson, please
hurry with those indictments.
