Joe Sitt Weeps for Coney; Land Use Committee Considers Plan Tomorrow

We are grateful to Brownstoner for tipping us to the Crain's New York Business article on Coney Island developer Joe Sitt, his habit of buying up city properties and flipping them for profits, and his attempts to do the same with his Coney holdings, though he tells Crain's (with tears in his eyes!) that "It's my passion to make Coney Island better... It is the place where I played hooky and grew up." The article also helpfully mentions that Sitt is a "childhood friend" of councilmember Dominic Recchia. This we knew, and that he protested in 2007 that Sitt and Thor Equities would not stand to see the site of Astroland "stay vacant." And in a way, that came true, though not in a way many people like.

Recchia just happens to have issued a release promising to visit City Hall tomorrow morning with members of Coney Island for All to "demand the City include guarantees for good jobs and affordable housing in its plan to redevelop Coney Island" -- that is, reject a proposed plan that he thinks doesn't have enough of either -- in advance of a Land Use Committee Hearing at 10 a.m. Representatives of unions and ACORN will go with him. Maybe Recchia can bring some of his rhetorical chops to the event:

Generally, you start with some spotting several weeks earlier. Most miscarriages at this point are blighted ovum pregnancies which means a fetus never developed but the body kept creating a placenta with no baby. It's a natural process as natural as giving birth really. At some point you bleed heavily, have cramps and bloody clots start coming out part of which you'll notice to be greyish in color which would have been the placenta. You bleed alot for several days to a week and everything comes out. It's very healthy for your body and hormones to take care of this naturally. However, you will want a doctor to do an HCG quant test on your blood. That part is very important because it shows if your body expelled all of the products of conception or not. If you don't expell all of the tissue it will rot in your uterus causing a serious infection and possibly the loss of your uterus or death. If you want to get pregnant again - your chances are great if it was a blighted ovum. If you had a molar pregnancy - that is more serious and requires a doctor's assistance as sometimes they need to perform a scraping of your uterus to get everything out. I would avoid that unless it's absolutely necessary because it takes time to recover from. If it's an ectopic pregnancy then miscarriage is inevitable and surgery is required. In any case, a doctor should at least be involved to monitor the situation to ensure your health and safety. A simple ultrasound can quickly determine what kind of miscarriage it is in most cases. When it's over, most women experience tremendous grief as though they had lost a child which in fact they did. Many women take months or years to recover from it. But other women can grieve and move on quite quickly. That part really depends on the woman - I know this one lady who had 7 kids, then 3 miscarriages and she still hasn't recovered from the 3 and is so sensitive about it years later that you can't mention anything about babies to her. Yet, I know other women who are able to move on and let them go and enjoy their own children and those of others without any bitterness at all. I think it's generally alot harder to get over when there is a fetus that is expelled and not just an empty placenta. I've only experienced the blighted ovum kind myself at 9 weeks. Lots of blood, painful cramps and no baby was seen on ultrasound. I have a friend who lost one at 6 months where the baby just died in the womb for no apparent reason. I couldn't imagine going through one of those. There are some kinds of miscarriages where they can provide hormone therapy if they determine that your hormone levels are off. But they usually don't look for a cause unless you have 3 or more of them in a row. It's not uncommon at all. I've heard that up to 50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage and that most of them happen so early on that a woman never realizes she got pregnant at all because she just has a heavy period a little late.
Cramping and bleeding. She probably needs a dNC to remove excess tissue. Then she should recuperate for several weeks. Sometimes miscarriages can't be helped.
I love playing Frontierville. Its a shame about all those cheaters who have loads of chickens that slowdown the game. But Zynga hopefully will sort this problem out soon.
When you have a celebrity the likes of Lindsay Lohan, in jailhouse it's a extensive problem for the penitentiary officers, they don't want that. They're suffering a lot of press and stress on their jail. It gets all the other convicts angry, it's not a effective state of affairs. Due to that, they're going to want to get her out expeditiously without giving the impression that she's experiencing extraordinary handling. At least that's what they say. Don't make me laugh! Keep in mind, Lindsay had a 90-day jail conviction, the routine person with that sentence in Los Angeles would be expected to do at least 22 or 23 days. But for Lindsay, now they're alleging two weeks total, so definitely she'd be getting it better than the rest. Just goes to show get famous get away with anything. Just ask OJ!!
