Supremes Reverse New Haven Discrimination Suit, Sotomayor

Categories: Featured, Legal

The Supreme Court has overturned the New Haven job discrimination ruling in favor of white people. They ruled 5-4 that in in Ricci et al. v. DeStefano et al, 20 white firefighters were unfairly passed over for promotion to which they were entitled by exam results by superiors eager to promote blacks and Hispanics in the New Haven Fire Department. As the original decision was approved on appeal by a three-judge panel including Sonia Sotomayor, this is an occasion of rejoicing for both honkies and for enemies of Sotomayor's appointment to the Supreme Court, two groups with admittedly heavy overlap.
