511NY Creates Twitter Feeds for Every Damn Subway Line

subtweets.jpg
We barely even knew what 511NY was -- "New York State's official traffic and travel info source," apparently, and something we didn't think we'd need unless we finally took that long-promised vacation to Schenectady. But now we're told that it has established Twitter feeds for all the state's transportation infrastructure, including New York's subways.

Go here to follow any line you choose from the A to the Z. We warn you, though, it can get pretty active: the A, C, E lines feed had 12 service messages in the past 24 hours. And if you get on the statewide system feed, hoo boy, that's a lot of messages (mostly like, "Delays on Garden State Pkwy south South of Exit 149 - CR 506 (Bloomfield) to South of Exit 147," etc).

We wonder how independent transp twitterers who've been filling the gap -- like NYCtrains -- will respond. (WIth more "original content," probably.) Also: why doesn't 511 have a feed for New York City buses? (Probably because there's nothing to say except "We suck.")
