Things look pretty bad at the moment, but back in the bad old days filmmakers regularly predicted New York's imminent collapse into total chaos, and we find it soothing to contemplate their visions and how short we have come up in comparison with them. As you will see from this trailer for 2019: After the Fall of New York by Italian auteur maudit Sergio Martino, New York was expected, after the 1999 attacks by the Euro-Afro-Asian Unity, to resemble, variously, northern New Jersey, the North African desert, and The Road Warrior.
