Mid-Day Mind Freshener: Lyrics to Famous Instrumentals
It can't all be breaking news of historic importance. WFMU's Beware of the Blog informs us that there are words to three famous instrumentals you probably didn't think had words: specifically "Apache," "Honky Tonk," and, most endearingly, "Telstar" ("Magic star above/Send a message to my love/Tell him that I wait patiently/Sad and so lonely/Dreamin' of him only/Swift and graceful as a dove way up above...").
Actually a lot of instrumentals have little-known lyrics, like the theme music to I Love Lucy ("I love Lucy and she loves me/We're as happy as two can be") and Bonanza ("We chased lady luck, 'til we finally struck Bonanza!/With a gun and a rope and a hat full of hope, planted a family tree"), which you can hear sung by series star Lorne Greene (with recitative!) above.
